Lee Owen was born and raised in Richmond,Va. Graduated from Williams College and University of Virginia Graduate Business School. Professional career included 39 years in investment management business with T.Rowe Price Associates and Alex Brown Investment Management in Baltimore. Board and volunteer activities focused on educational opportunities for disadvantaged families. Married to Jenny with four children and five grandchildren. Reside in Jupiter the winter and Maryland in the summer.
Phil Danford
Treasurer
Phil grew up in Connecticut, received an undergraduate degree from Villanova University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Phil worked his entire business career in finance. Culminating with positions as VP and Treasurer of Dun & Bradstreet, Inc. and Senior VP and Chief Financial Officer of R.H. Donnelley Corp. Phil is now retired living full time in Tequesta FL. He began tutoring at the Edna Runner Tutorial Center three years ago. He started out at two days per week but that has since grown to 4 days per week. Phil joined the board of directors last year as the Treasurer. His duties include monitoring the financials of the center as well as heading up the building committee for the expansion project. In addition to charitable attributes, Phil’s other interests include golf and reading.
Debby Baker
Secretary
Debby Baker serves on the Board of Directors as Secretary since 2022. She is an attorney of counsel with the Scott Law Team, practicing in the areas of employment, healthcare, contracts, transactions and corporate law, and is licensed in Florida and Indiana. She is also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator. Debby earned her law degree from The Ohio State University, and her undergraduate bachelor of science degree in Business Economics and Public Policy, from Indiana University.
She enjoys volunteering at the Center, including with Simon’s Giving Garden. She is also a member of 100 Women Who Care (Jupiter/Tequesta), and participates in community volunteer projects related to hunger, children and families, and mental health and well-being.

Jervonte "Tae" Edmonds
Director
Jervonte is the author of “Adventures of the Rich and Famous”, the book teaches young children they can be what they want to be, as long as they believe in themselves. The book appears on the Bestsellers list for Amazon. Mr. Edmonds is known for being an outspoken advocate for education and leadership. He has dedicated his career to improving the rights specially for minorities, women, the elderly, children, incarcerated individuals and the homeless population. Mr. Edmonds has worked for Keller Williams as a Real Estate Agent, the Florida Senate, the Florida House of Representatives and as Safety and Justice Challenge Analyst for Palm Beach County Commissioners Criminal Justice Commission.
To show his commitment to the community Jervonte serves on multiple Executive Boards and organizations. Jervonte has served as the past President of Palm Beach Young Black Progressives, Executive Board member of the Palm Beach County Black Chamber of Commerce, Executive Trustee of the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors for the South Florida Fair, Advisory Board of Sequel’s Palm Beach Youth Academy, Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, Member of Leadership Palm Beach County, Legacy’s 40 under 40 today and tomorrow 2018 Honoree and Executive Board Member, Committee Member of the American Fundraising Professionals 2019 Luncheon, past Board Member of the City of Delray Beach Education Board, NLC (New Leaders Council) West Palm Beach Chartering member and past Board Member. Edmonds is also a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Leadership Institute, Florida State University College of Business Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship for Nonprofit Executives. Edmonds is the proud recipient of numerous honors and awards bestowed upon him from organizations both national and international.

Miree’s tall stature pales in comparison to the size of his heart and his desire to make a difference in his community. He is a firm believer in using his time, talents and resources to help those in need. Miree has worked tirelessly in numerous fundraising and volunteer initiatives including the Palm Beach Children’s Hospital at St. Mary’s, Give Local America, Boys and Girls Club of America, The Zoe Lauren Make a Difference Foundation, and The Cure for Arthritis, and the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Miree, undeniably strives to be a winner and successful businessman. However, equal to if not more important, Miree makes it a daily practice to model, inspire, train, and educate others to conquer hardships, live a healthy lifestyle and find true happiness. Miree encompasses the spirit of achievement and is a magnificent role model and inspiration for future generations.
Donald Williams
Director
Donald Williams joined the board in 2024. He is a Project Manager with Wharton-Smith, Inc where he is responsible for providing daily leadership to the project teams and for the successful completion of all preconstruction and construction phases for the projects. Donald is a Jupiter native and an alumnus of West Jupiter Tutorial Center, which he attended from kindergarten until 8th grade. He then graduated from Jupiter High School and received his Associate in Science in Drafting & Design Technology from Valencia College. After that, he received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida with a minor in Mathematics. Donald enjoys spending time with his family, engaging in outdoor activities, and mentoring the youth.

Art Landro
Director
Art Landro joined the Board in 2022. He has extensive hands-on global leadership experience in building and directing companies and organizations. As the President and CEO of three different VC-backed software companies he expanded their customer base and profitability, leading them all to successful acquisitions. Prior to these CEO roles he held senior executive positions in the telecommunications industry, living overseas in Peru, Hong Kong and Singapore, across a 12-year period. Art spent 5-years on Active Duty with the USAF and 22-years in the Air Force Reserves retiring as a Lt Col. Art holds a BSc in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut and is a Distinguished Graduate of the USAF’s Squadron Officer School. He is currently Principal of MC1 Consulting Services, mentoring firsttime CEOs and Chief Revenue Officers on Go-to-Market strategies.

Larry Jones

Larry Jones retired from Pratt & Whitney after 33 years of diverse domestic and international aerospace leadership. Prior to his career with Pratt & Whitney Mr. Jones spent 13 total active and reserve duty years as a Marine pilot. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the US Naval Academy, a Master of Science in Management from Purdue University and completed the Program Managers Course at the Defense Acquisition University. He has served on the Boards of the Urban League and Amistad Center for Art & Culture, both in Hartford, CT. Larry is an avid golfer and enjoys cycling.
Maria Marino
Former Director (Emeritus status)
Commissioner Marino was elected to the Palm Beach County Commission in 2020 after serving as Palm Beach Gardens City Council starting in 2016 and the City’s Mayor in 2017. Previously, she served 2 years on the Palm Beach Gardens Recreation Advisory Board and the Palm Beach Gardens Clubhouse Ad-Hoc Committee.
Civically, she sits on a multitude of county and statewide boards including the Palm Beach County League of Cities, Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council and the Transportation Planning Agency of Palm Beach County, where she is currently the Vice-Chair.
Maria was awarded the 2017 Woman of the Year by the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce. She is Chair of the Chamber’s Smart and Connected Regions Task Force and a Past Trustee Member.
Recently, Maria was a 2018 Recognition Award Winner from Mama’s Shelter.
Maria owns a Real Estate firm based in Palm Beach Gardens and served as the Executive Director of the Jupiter Children’s Foundation before being elected Commissioner.
With a strong belief in community service and philanthropy, she lends her talents to many public initiatives targeted at enriching the lives of at-risk youth and fostering relationships in the business world that benefit underserved populations.
In addition to the Edna W. Runner Tutorial Center, Maria has served as a Board Member with the Children’s Golf Foundation, The First Tee of the Palm Beaches. Maria is an Ambassador with the Honda Classic, just completed two years as Honorary Chair of the Scripps Research Golf Classic and is a past Board Member with Leadership Palm Beach County. Maria served as the Honorary Chair for the Edna W. Runner Golf Classic and advises a multitude of local charities with their fund-raising efforts. She has been a featured writer with several local publications and is a Member of the Golf Writers Association of America.
Maria is a native of Connecticut and a graduate of the University of Connecticut. After winning the State Women’s Amateur Championship in 1985, Maria came to Florida to improve her golf skills and never left.
As a professional golfer, Maria has been a member and mentor with the Ladies Professional Golf Association since 1994, where she served on the organization’s National Marketing Committee and as Southeast Section Treasurer. She teaches national for the LPGA and in this role, has introduced out of town golfers to the multitude of opportunities in South Florida.
