Celebrating Excellence: The 2025 Mary Hinton Scholarship & Moving On Ceremony is in the books! Please check all the images in the Album section!

We are filled with gratitude and joy reflecting on yesterday's incredible 2025 Mary Hinton Scholarship/Moving On Ceremony at the Edna W. Runner Education Center! What a powerful day of inspiration, achievement, and community connection.

Special thanks to Palm Beach County Mayor Maria Marino, Ed & Leah Frankel, and Curry Krasulak for their meaningful participation. The Frankel family's continued support of this scholarship and their years of dedicated Board service have created a lasting impact for our students. Ms. Curry's heartfelt introduction of the scholarship, named for her mother Mary Hinton, who served faithfully on our Board for many years, reminded us all of the legacy of service that inspires our work.

Our elementary students beamed with pride during their Moving Up Ceremony, while also witnessing the achievements of our high school senior scholarship recipients, creating a beautiful bridge between generations of learners at our Center.

The day was made special by so many: • Molly McCann's inspiring opening remarks • Christin Martin leading the Pledge of Allegiance • Mr. Ed and Mr. Fred showcasing our Trade Program students' impressive projects—from tables and benches to the Frankel Basketball Court bleachers, raised garden beds, and most recently the beautiful bookshelf. This innovative program at the Center provides additional pathways for students to consider as they view their future.

We were especially moved by our distinguished alumni speakers: • Johnnie Hubbard, Executive Director of the ACC Foundation • Destiny Davis, Stetson Law School graduate and law firm owner • Donald Williams, Project Manager at Wharton Smith.

Travis Conway closed the ceremony with his trademark humor and heartfelt words of gratitude.

To our Board members, parents, staff, donors, and everyone who made this event a priority—thank you for investing in the future of our community's children. Your presence and support make all the difference!

📣 The Sound of Success? It's LAUGHTER! 🤣

HAPPY TEACHER DAY! At the Edna W. Runner Education Center, we believe learning and laughter go hand in hand! Science shows that laughter reduces stress, boosts memory, and creates stronger bonds between people - all essential ingredients for educational success!

Check out this heartwarming video of our amazing students bringing joy and giggles to their teachers. These moments of connection remind us why we do what we do every day!

The silliness and laughter you hear isn't just cute (though it definitely is!) - it's actually building stronger brains, healthier bodies, and more resilient spirits in our students AND educators.

Tomorrow, May 4th is World Laughter Day. Tag someone who brings laughter to your life and share: What made YOU laugh today? DO you have a joke you can share? Post it here!

We are just over a week away from Mother's Day, but it is never too early to honor our moms! So today we hosted a wonderful celebration honoring our senior citizens for Mother's and Father's Day at the Edna W. Runner Education Center, supported by Lori & John Houchin, Velocity Community Credit Union, and The Jim Moran Foundation.

The festivities began with warm welcoming remarks from our Program Director, Jahvon Mobley, followed by announcements from our Executive Director, Travis Conway. We were privileged to have Dr. Paul Winner, CEO of Clinics Can Help, as our special guest who shared valuable information about accessible programs for our seniors.

Our seniors showcased their creativity during an engaging art activity, proving that artistic expression knows no age limit! The highlight of the day was undoubtedly our famous Fashion Contest, where our stylish seniors demonstrated once again that they know how to bring flair and elegance to every occasion!

Before enjoying our delicious meal, we received a beautiful blessing from Mother Mary Jefferson. A special thank you to Lori and John Houchin for providing the amazing menu and helping serve our grateful seniors.

At the Edna W. Runner Education Center, we're committed to creating meaningful experiences for our senior community. These celebrations remind us of the importance of honoring the wisdom, contributions, and joy our seniors bring to our lives every day!

A very special thank you to Ms. Missy for capturing these photos and to our staff and volunteers for making the day possible.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! We thank the Admirals Cove Foundation and donors who make it possible for our students to have a supportive relationship with @Families First of Palm Beach County and other organizations that support mental health in our community!

The theme this month is "Turn Awareness into Action". Here are some tips and ideas to take action around mental health this May!

- Take action by checking on your mental health with a free, quick, anonymous test at mhascreening.org.
- Mental health is deeply personal, and what works for one person may not work for another. It is important to explore which practices and/or treatments best fit your unique needs and circumstances.
- Seeking professional help for your mental health when self-help efforts aren’t working is a sign of strength, not weakness. You don’t have to go through these struggles alone.
- Finding the right intervention might take time. Don't be afraid to try different approaches until you find the combination that works best for you.
- It's OK to change the type of action you take for your mental health as your needs change.
- Finding the proper intervention might take time. Don't be afraid to try different approaches until you find the combination that best fit your unique needs and circumstances.

We love our friends from @@urbanabundancefl - They help our garden grow! The beautiful Simon's Giving Garden, supported by Mary McArtor Reynolds Memorial Fund, the friends and family of Simon Baker and @impactthepalmbeaches is tended to by Urban Abundance. They are focused on supporting healthy eating and garden understanding for our children. Each month, on their blog, they will feature a fun, printable coloring sheet starring a real animal or bug you might find in your own yard — and teach kids whether that creature helps or harms the garden. First up: the mighty earthworm! 🪱

Why This Matters (Even If You Don’t Have a Garden… Yet):
🌽 Kids who grow their own food are 2x more likely to eat fruits and veggies daily (CDC)
🧠 Gardening builds real-world skills like focus, patience, and problem-solving
👨‍👩‍👧 It creates powerful memories and healthier habits for the whole family
🌎 It reconnects your home to something bigger — sustainability, abundance, and community.
