Gardening is educational and develops new skills including responsibility, self-confidence, reasoning, physical activity, cooperation, creativity, and wellness. The Edna's Community Garden Project takes a typical garden concept a step further with a student-driven community beautification garden project and school-based food sharing component. This innovative program is funded exclusively through public donations and grants from Impact The Palm Beaches, The Mary Durstine McArtor Reynolds Memorial Giving Fund and the friends and family of Simon Baker.
Simon’s Giving Garden
The Edna Runner Education Center and the family and friends of Simon L. Baker joined forces to create a full garden program including an organic living vegetable, fruit and butterfly garden, named Simon's Giving Garden.Â
The garden was beautifully designed by Cotleur and Hearing and lovingly built by The Dirt Academy and Turtle Beach Construction (with a little help from our friends!). This very special garden includes fruit trees, pollinator plants for butterflies, a beautiful granite water fountain and areas where students can reflect and grow. The garden brings together students, teachers, staff, and volunteers to grow food, have fun, and find peace.
