It is both an honor and a privilege to welcome you to learn more about the Edna W. Runner Education Center. I am honored to serve as the Executive Director and to honor the legacy of our much-loved founder, the late Ms. Edna W. Runner.

Ms. Runner was a trailblazing community leader with extraordinary vision, who dedicated her life to ensuring that struggling children and families in her part of the world had the opportunity to pursue the American dream, no matter their circumstances. Under her guardianship, the Center became what it is today; a safe haven and a place of hope for all those who walk through its doors.

Having been a student of the Center myself, I experienced first-hand the transformative effect this unique and special place can have on a child's life. The positive impact of having support and mentorship from a tutor cannot be overstated, shaping not only academic performance but also life perspectives and future opportunities. The expanded learning opportunities that we provide, with support from our partner agencies, not only helps them achieve better test scores in school, but helps boost their self-esteem, instilling in them the belief that they are capable of achieving great things, not just in the classroom but in life.

The Center’s incredible achievements over the last four decades would simply not have been possible without our amazing community partners, highly committed volunteers, dedicated staff, and generous donors. Together, we can continue to create a brighter future for the students and families who depend on the Education Center, and in doing so, ensure a better community for all.
