It's Election Day and our students have loved creating an election of their favorite - pizza or Golden Corral! Check out our results on the post today. 🙂
As we approach the Holiday Giving season, we embrace the vision of the Edna W. Runner Tutorial Center and our mission. Our annual Holiday Shop-A-Thon is an amazing experience for the students to learn the joy of giving gifts to the people they love. The students work hard all year to have the opportunity to choose from a series of donated gifts to give to their family and teacher. The pride our children have when choosing a gift to bring to their family is so wonderful to experience. They take their time and pick out just the right thing. They learn the joy of giving. Check our Amazon Wish list here: www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2QVVJ4NK3W2CM/ref=hz_ls_biz_ex?blm_aid=1469441
We need your help to make this year special. If you can volunteer or provide gifts, please let us know! The list is below. We are accepting donations and items until Friday, December 9. Thank you.

🍽️ BREAKING NEWS: The Great Lunch Election Results are in! 🗳️
Hold onto your forks, folks! We've just witnessed a landslide victory in the most delicious election of the year at Edna W. Runner Tutorial Center! 🏆
🥇 Golden Corral: 47 votes
🥈 Pizza: 7 votes
In a surprising turn of events, our young food critics have spoken, and they're saying, "Pass the buffet, please!" Golden Corral didn't just win; it absolutely feasted on the competition! 🍗🥩🍤
Poor pizza found itself in a cheesy situation, getting a slice of humble pie in this culinary showdown. Looks like our kids are thinking outside the box... the pizza box, that is! 🍕😅 We do still love our pizza friends. The adventure of traveling to feast on diverse foods may have weighed heavy with the voters!

We thank all of our volunteers for your support. Today we hope you take time to vote. No tutoring today. 😉
So, why is Election Day on the first Tuesday in November? Did you know?
The 28th Congress passed a federal law in 1845 designating Election Day as "the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November," according to the U.S. Vote Foundation.
Before this, states could previously hold elections over 34 days before the first Wednesday in December.
States that held their elections early in that timeframe would publish results — influencing the outcome of election results other states with elections later in the allotted period.
Behind the scenes: Tuesday and November were each chosen out of convenience to farmers, per History.com's Evan Andrews.
"Since people often traveled at least a day to vote, lawmakers needed to allow a two-day window for Election Day," Andrews wrote. "Weekends were impractical, since most people spent Sundays in church, and Wednesday was market day for farmers."
By November, the harvest was complete and winter weather hadn't started.
Spring and early summer elections would have interfered with farmers' planting season, while late summer and early fall overlapped with the harvest.
