Ms. Edna believed that all families deserve to celebrate the holidays and established annual traditions to ensure that holidays are extra special for the children and families served by the Center. The holiday season includes numerous opportunities for students to pay it forward to other groups and for the Center to ensure that our students and senior citizens have a joyful holiday season. Whether giving plants from Simon’s Giving Garden or sharing their voices in song, the students are filled with the spirit of the holidays.
Thanks to generous support from donors and volunteers, each year the Center distributes Thanksgiving dinner baskets and Easter baskets to its vulnerable and food insecure neighbors in the Limestone Creek area. At Christmas, the Holiday Shop-A-Thon is a much-anticipated tradition that, thanks to generous donors, allows students to experience the joy and empowerment of giving. The children work all year to earn the privilege to choose from a series of donated gifts to give to their family and teacher at Christmas. The pride the children have when choosing a gift to bring to their family brings holiday magic into the hearts of everyone involved.
